Take Care of Thy Hair

                                                                             {}

Yes winter is defiantly here, well for us Brits it feels like it's been here all year. But as it's turning extremely cold our bodies start to suffer. Blocked noses, nasty coughs and really really really cold feet. Our first reaction to whenever one of these conditions happens to us, is to protect our self as much as we can to face the dreadful cold, so why not do the same for your hair!
Your hair is suffering just as any part of your body, so we should be doing the same things we do to protect our body to protecting our hair.

[PROTECTIVE STYLING]

The first rule is  Protective Hairstyles, meaning, keeping the ends of your hair tucked away. Classic styles like a top bun is a perfect way to keep the ends of your safe from the harsh elements during the winter period.
Yes we may want to dress up our hair, using heat tools, and leaving it out, but it'll do you more damage then good my lovelies

Next rule is sealing your hair, which is just as important as the first rule. Moisturising and sealing your hair with an oil such as coconut, almond, aloe and olive oil, are all great and work with keeping your hair healthier through the winter periods.

[WRAPPING YOUR HAIR]

Next, which I'm sure everyone knows already is to wrap your hair at night. This insures that your hair is kept protected as you sleep, and if your not a fan of head scarfs, or you know that your too lazy, or will forget. Just exchange your cotton pillows (which will rub against your hair, making it break) with satin or silk pillow cases, which will overall aid in the protection of your hair keeping it healthy!

PRODUCTS PRODUCTS PRODUCTS!!!

The next step is to finding products that work for your hair. For some people this takes years and years, but to help your search go faster, finding our your hair's porosity may help your situation. If you find that you do your moisturising and sealing, but still wake up in the morning with dry brittle hair , your hair's porosity could be something you should consider testing.

What is porosity? you may ask, well porosity is your hair's ability to absorb water, which tells how your hair absorbs products.

[POROSITY]

How your able to test this, is to grab a strand of hair and drop it into a glass of water; now if the strand immediately sinks to the bottom then your hair has high porosity. If its floats within the middle of the glass then it is of normal porosity. And if it stays floating at the top then your stand has low porosity.

Hair regimen for your porosity

High:-Thicker butters and products with more oils are helpful for this hair type as they will seal the cuticle and even serve as a protective layer.

Average: Although it's cconsidered a very desirable hair type, chemical processes including heat, can change the hair’s porosity over time. so regular deep conditioning, moisturising and

little to no heat

regimens will help  keep normal porosity strands at optimum health.

Low:- Regular baking soda treatments or products containing
glycerin may help improve moisture levels.

Keep your hair healthy!!
