Going Natura

Going natural was one of the biggest hair changes in my life; the next being, dying my hair bright blonde,/other blonde looking colours lol. So I now devote myself to learning new things about hair care, and everything that will promote its health and growing stages.
I didn't know a thing about maintaining natural hair, or how much work was needed to put in, in looking after it, but it soon came a familiar territory, after watching hundreds of You tube videos, and researching everything and anything.

My Hairstory

After my braid extension phases during secondary school, my next venture was weaves. It first started with adding tracks in between my own hair, then went on to doing a full head.
After having a traumatic incident with my beloved relaxer, I thought there was no better time then to start the "going natural" stage.
I didn't do the whole big chop thing, cause it just wasn't something I wanted, or felt like I needed to do. So after growing out my hair for a year, under the great protection of weaves. July 2nd 2012 I was a full natural, and I haven't looked back since.

So far my hair growth has been quite evident, but the most thing I'm happy about is it's health. My hair has become so much stronger and thicker, and I find that the natural lifestyle works very well for me.
But having stronger and thicker hair isn't only down to what I put in it, it also depends on my diet. What you put in your body determines a lot on how your hair will or won't suffer.

Here are a few before and after pictures =D

When I loved having my Braids

Weave it up baby

This was my hair after I took a break from having weave, it was a nice length but look at how thin it was

I always used heat to get the style I wanted, The first day when I would shampoo and condition my hair was the day it 'looked' it's fullest,  but it would just go back to looking thin after I applied all my products

This is after the incident of when I relaxed the edges of my hair, and didn't wash it out properly. My hair kept on breaking and breaking, and no matter what I did to keep it healthy, it didn't grow

It's hurting me to even show these pictures, but its all part of  the process

So I still didn't learn anything and I dyed my hair. If you look  at the top of my hair its so dry and horrible as I going through my transitional stage.

But that still didn't stop me  and I went on to dye it blondishy lol

I took a break from the weave and let the dye grow out a bit before I dyed it black

This is the last weave I had in my hair

And for my holiday I had to relax the edges of  my hair, so it wouldn't be puffy cause of the humidity #sigh

Yes I probably shouldn't have dyed my hair again but as I was caring for my hair a lot more, I knew that I wouldn't have an issue with it this time around.
So this is October month 3 of being natural, and my curls are defining everyday which I will show in another post, here I've just brushed it out after having it in a hairband all day

MAMAS BACK, AND SHE'S BACK FOR GOOD!!!

Hello! I'm back and with a whole new concept in mind. I will forever be fashion based, but as lifestyles are they change at periods, and as of now, I am obsessed with travelling, and hair and skin health!
I will also be directing my spills on everything else going on, as an inside approach to other things going on with the MimiBlogLife melody.

{}

So during my obsession I will updating you with everything I am learning, and doing as part of my hair and skin regime for us British girls; and places I have visited recently that I would love to show.

I've stalked my You Tube favorites for months, and learnt that some of the products shown are not easily accessible for us British girls, without doing the ole ordering on line shibang. So I will gracefully take on the challenge of show other alternatives, or/and try and test them myself, to give you the full review on them all, before you make that big international shipping purchase!

My first purchase is Hairfinity vitamins by Brock Beauty based in LA. Their vitamins have preached to be the hair growth vitamins of the century, and have been proven to see results in the first month! So I will see what all the fuss is about, and update you with my progress during the coming month.

Now a natural girl since June 2012, I'm cautious to know whats being put in my hair and especially my body, as what's inside reflects whats happening on the outside. Thoroughly researching this product, by reading reviews and checking their website for ingredient content, I was happy and relieved to find out that this supplement contains natural A, C and D vitamins and natural substances like folic acid, biotin, ( another vitamin I take) and MSM (Methylsulfonymethane.
They also educated me on how our hair works in phases of growth.

There are three phases of the hair growth that exist:
  • Anagen: The growth phase, usually lasts about two to eight years, up to 85% of the hair is in this stage at any period of time. MSM help to take your hair back to the growing stage as well as helps to make the growth stage last longer.
  • Catagen; the degradation phases (shedding), usually lasts about two to four weeks, up to 10% of the hair is in this stage at any period of time.
  • Telogen: the resting phase, usually last about two to four months, not more than 10% of the hair is in this stage at any period of time.

After doing heavy research of reading, watching reviews and looking at images of hair transformations, I decided to try this myself.

Here's a few for you to have a beavers at. I got you girl ;-)

TRAVEL

{}

Now as part of my travelling ordeal, the two life changing places I've been this year is Miami and New York.
I can only go into so much detail of how I miss not being there everyday.
I was in Miami in May for the Memorial day weekend, and what a weekend/10days it was. Words can not fulfil my description of the eventful memories I have so I hope these pictures will! haha

New York AKA my second home, was a place of pure personal joy, as it was a place I've wanted to visit all my life, so finally I woke up, realised why haven't I done so, and  booked tickets, and was off to enjoy two weeks of unplanned wildness.
